City Skyline

I fell off the blogging planet last week.  So sorry about that.  My husband was home all week and I let the computer work go to the back of the list.  So on to my regular post.

I had seen a  LONG time ago, like years ago a print of a skyline that I thought was just adorable.  I had kept it in the brain log for what seems like ever.  I finally started a 9x12 canvas that was going to be pretty simple yet still had that cute feel to it.

I loved making the doodles all over the buildings.  I couldn't help but make an art studio in all this cuteness.  Plus who wouldn't want a bakery and coffee shop right next to you.  How adorable would it be if a city block could actually look like this:)  Hope you enjoy!!

Volunteer Gift

About a month ago I was contacted by a soup kitchen.

They were having an appreciation ceremony for their volunteers and wanted a gift to give them.
They had given me some leeway, but I needed to use their colors and incorporate their logo as well.

Ten were made in a matter of days.

Did I tell you they contacted me 3 days before they needed to be shipped?

I scurried to purchase the right amount of canvases.

I used my big shot to cut out all the letters.

I drew and painted each logo on the canvas.

I stamped, painted, and decoupaged each one a little different.

got them shipped out a day early.

I was so honored to be asked to make these.

I hope the volunteers who these were given to loved them just as much.

Whimsical Birdcage

I pulled out a 12x12 canvas a few weeks ago and put some plain white tissue paper on it.  After that I had no idea what I was about to do with it.  It sat for a few days, as most of my canvases do when I first start them. Then I found the colors I wanted to do.  So I slapped on paint and it sat again.  Nothing was speaking to me.  I thought this is going to be one of those many canvases that sit in my studio untouched for months before I finally figure out what I want to put on it.  That's when it hit me...a birdcage (no bird, I didn't want that).  I drew the basic birdcage and then I added to it.  A basic birdcage is pretty boring if I do say.  In no whimsy birdcage was born.  Now to add some words or not is the next question.

Let me know what you think.  What words would you add to it?
